very portfolio has a key. This stairwell is one of them. At first, it looks ordinary. Layers of posters. Torn paper. Scribbled walls. A handrail polished by years of passing hands. Look a little longer.
Nothing here was designed to belong together.
Everything found its place anyway.
That quiet accumulation becomes the thread running through her work. Roads, windows, forests and forgotten corners don't simply describe a place. They reveal the traces of ordinary lives. Every painting feels less constructed than discovered.
02. THE MOMENT AFTER
The lights never seem to switch off.
The fluorescent sign hums. The ice cream window still glows. Fresh coffee will be poured tomorrow morning whether anyone remembers today or not.
Khushi's paintings rarely depend on dramatic events. Instead, they find meaning in places carrying on with quiet certainty. Long after the conversation has ended, the light is still on.
03. NATURE IS PATIENT
The forest never arrives in a hurry.
Water rises a little. Roots spread a little further. Light filters through another season. Children walk forward as though they belong there, not because they have conquered nature, but because they have learned to move with it.
In Khushi Chauhan's paintings, nature is never the backdrop. It is another quiet participant in the story. Human life passes through these places. The landscape simply keeps growing around it.
04. WINDOWS DON'T SEPARATE
A window usually divides inside from outside.
In Khushi Chauhan's paintings, it does the opposite.
The child isn't watching the landscape. She is quietly becoming part of it. Morning light crosses the floor, climbs the wall and settles beside her until the room and the garden feel like the same place.
Even indoors, her paintings refuse to feel enclosed. Every opening becomes an invitation rather than a boundary.
